Things to do while in Mountain Lakes:
1) Walk or kayak to the waterfall at the end of Timber Ridge. (See Map) 2) Walk to the County Store and sit out on the deck and overlook the pool, water slide and mini-golf course. You may be inspired to participate in a round of mini-golf! 3) Walk or drive to the stables and photograph the horses! Or, go on a trail ride-you may have to register in advance. 4) Walk or drive to the Clubhouse on top of the hill and get some sun at the outdoor pool or wade in the indoor pool. 5) Relax in one of the hot tubs. 6) Shoot a game of pool at the clubhouse. 7) Read a book outside and connect with nature. 8) Check out the stunning leaves in the fall. 9) Spend a little time in the gym at the clubhouse. 10) Go fishing, rent a golf cart or john boat, or just sit on the edge of the lake. |

1) Tour the town by car and foot and practice your photography. 2) Drive through the Chattahoochee National Forest. 3) Hike up the Yohan Mountain Trail-not for beginners-great views. 4) Drive to Unicoi State Park and hike around and hike up to Anna Ruby Falls. 5) Eat in one of the great restaurants! 6) Visit the Unicoi Lodge and go Zip Lining. 7) Explore great fishing at Smith Lake (Commonly known as Unicoi Lake) 8) Trout or fly fish in the Chattahoochee! It's stocked weekly-you can even go with an outfitter! 9) Enjoy Octoberfest! 10) Go tubing Memorial Day-Labor Day! 11) Attend the Hot Air Balloon Festival in June *Roosters Inn Favorite drive in Helen: Turn left out of Mountain Lakes onto 75Alt, whenever you see the big concrete bridge that goes over the Chattahoochee, turn left (just before the Cool River Adventure Center Ropes course) onto Poplar Stump Road. Keep driving and you will be beside the Chattahoochee. It's gorgeous! |
